Telephone Befriender

Berkshire Vision

Berkshire Vision offers a telephone befriending scheme for our visually impaired members. As a telephone befriender you would be matched with one of our visually impaired members for a weekly call. The aim of your call is to provide a friendly chat to reduce the isolation that they may be experiencing. You will ask the Member about their week, and prompt conversation topics when necessary. Most calls last around 30 minutes. After the call, you fill out a short online form to let us know that you spoke to the Member and to let us know if anything needs to be followed up by Berkshire Vision staff.

Who would be supporting me?

The Head of Volunteering and the Volunteer Officer will be supporting you. You will receive a handbook and online training.
