Berkshire Scouts

We're seeking people with a sense of adventure who want to work with young people in your community, make friends and gain new skills at the same time!

If this sounds like you, then this could be the volunteering opportunity you have been looking for!

Scout Groups across West Berkshire are looking for help running its exciting youth programmes:

  • Squirrels (age 4-6yrs)
  • Beavers (age 6-8yrs)
  • Cubs (age 8-10yrs)
  • Scouts (age 10-14yrs)
  • Explorers (age 14-18yrs)

Scouts develops young people through fun, challenge and adventure. This volunteer opportunity involves helping to plan and run the exciting programme of activities for the children, as well as go on fun trips and outings!

You could get involved! From abseiling to zorbing, camping to coding - we do it all!

We can offer you a free DBS check, free training, masses of career skills, and a great chance to improve your CV. There's also plenty of support from fellow volunteers and the chance to meet new people and engage with your community. The most important part is that it's fun and incredibly rewarding.

We are looking for anyone with a sense of fun and adventure! No experience necessary, full training and DBS.

About Berkshire Scouts

Berkshire Scouts supports Scouting in more than 100 communities across Berkshire, providing fun, challenge and adventure for more than 10,000 young people aged 6 to 25.

We run activities in 5 sections;
Squirrels - age 4-6yrs
Beavers - age 6-8yrs
Cubs - age 8-10yrs
Scouts - age 10-14yrs
Explorers - age 14-18yrs

We have a number of groups in and around Newbury that are always ready to welcome new volunteers. From zorbing to cooking, coding to camping, every week is different and our aim is to build resilience, a sense of adventure and leadership skills in the young people we support.

What skills do I need?

You do not need any previous experience to get involved and we have training scheme and support structure for our volunteers to ensure their learning is tailored to their needs.  We do ask that you enjoy working as part of a team and learning new skills.

When is this role available?

This is a flexible role available on various days/times.
