County IT Team - help us get things running smoothly behind the scenes

Berkshire Scouts

We're looking to grow our successful IT Team where you'll be able to have great pride in making sure things run smoothly in the background!

We're looking for people with experience of coding and debugging in Javascript and Node.

By using your experience and skills of working with Javascript and Node, you'll be able to help us to debug and improve a range of web-based apps running in our county website. Our volunteers rely on the site for some core admin tasks like Activity Notifications. These systems have been developed in-house and we want to grow the team who are familiar with supporting and improving them.

Users can create a ticket in our helpdesk if they've got an issue. These tickets are then assigned to the most appropriate person in the team to work on them. We want people who have technical skills to be able to investigate an issue, test solutions in our staging environment, move into production when ready, and respond to users to keep them informed.

Support is available from existing members of the team who have experience in the technical aspects of the role, as well as the broader context of the people side of our work. You will be able to work independently on solving problems, as well as liaising with others in the team as needed.

These tasks can be done at a time and place to suit you, making it a really flexible opportunity to suit you. We will schedule catch-up calls to make sure you're getting on well and to offer any more support you need.

There are occasional/optional evenings meetings in Wokingham however the majority of this role can be performed from home.
