Property Manager for Newbury Samaritans

Newbury Samaritans

Newbury Samaritans is a busy branch of the charity located at 58 West Street, Newbury. The house is a residential in style with a kitchen area and operations room downstairs and a training room and small office upstairs.

We're looking for someone to be responsible for the maintenance of the property, and to respond to occasional calls to bring in plumbers, electricians or building and repair people.

We already have an IT team, so that is not part of the role.

Annually, the branch compliance requires updating with health and safety and maintenance checks. 

Accountable to: Branch Secretary

Health and Safety Policy Statement, Safe Practices for Operations, Fire Risk Assessments, Office Risk Assessments, Building and Test Inspection Schedule, Routine H&S Check Procedures, Key Entry Operations, PAT Assessments.

Building management including;

Identify faults to effect repairs, Legionella safeguards, DSE Risk Assessments 

EICR (Electrical Installation Condition report)

The Newbury branch is in the centre of Newbury on the corner of West Street opposite the Lion pub.

As part of the national Samaritans organisation, Newbury Samaritans is dedicated to providing confidential emotional support to individuals experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those that may lead to suicide. Whether by telephone, chat, email, or our outreach programme, our trained volunteers offer a safe space for people to talk about their feelings and concerns, helping to alleviate emotional distress with the ultimate aim of reducing the incidence of suicide.

What skills do I need?

General building and DIY skills would be a help. Otherwise a positive approach and a can do attitude. Someone already working in the building trade might be ideal.

When is this role available?

This is a flexible role available on various days/times.

Details

Time commitment: This varies day to day and week to week. On average a couple of hours a week. No specific days but need to be able to respond to a problem.
