Female volunteer - walking companion for a female stroke survivor who is also visually impaired

Female Volunteer for female member.  A very friendly, older lady who has done remarkably well with her rehabilitation since her stroke but complications with her vision means she is unable to go out by herself.  Her 'bouncy' vision increases the risk of tripping and causes her to be unsteady.  To have a volunteer who she can link arms with and go for a walk will help her greatly - she can walk well, her mobility is very good. She has been a very creative lady, enjoying her crafts but sadly is no longer able to do this but would love to have craft in common when talking.   

The member lives in Newbury.

Enrych Berkshire supports and encourages adults with a physical disability to become more active and independent. Aiming to enhance their quality of life, improve physical and mental health, reduce social isolation and to aid rehabilitation and integration into mainstream society.

Members are paired with a like minded volunteer on a one-to-one basis, enabling them to enjoy a leisure activity or learn a new skill. We put practical support in place for members to enjoy activities such as walks, swimming, playing games, going to the library or cinema, joining a club or learning a new skill.

What skills do I need?

Somebody who enjoys chatting with a friend.  Full support is provided by our Project Coordinator.

This is a flexible role. One walk a week would be fantastic - fortnightly is an option.
