Volunteer Kitchen Assistant

Are you seeking some experience in a busy kitchen environment?

Here at Ufton, the delicious food we create is an integral part of the experience for all visiting children. From breakfast buffets to evening banquets, in our Tithe Barn, we are proud to provide nutritious and varied feasts to fuel teachers, children and staff for their busy days of Viking raids and bushcraft activities.

In this role you will be mainly supporting the catering team to prepare and clean up after lunches and dinners. You will be trained to use the industrial dish washer and to lay out, tidy and clean the dining halls. During busy times you will help with food preparation also.

About Ufton Court Educational Trust

We are a Educational Trust set in a Tudor manor house and surrounding woodlands in West Berkshire. We offer history and outdoor learning based residential and day visits to schools. We also run alternative provision day visits for both primary and secondary school students.

We host weddings and private events and the profits made from these are put back into the charity and used to make residential visits affordable to all and subsidies the alternative provision sessions. This includes sessions, transports and food for students attending.

What skills do I need?

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is reliable and able to commit to regular help. We are currently looking for people for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes 12pm-2pm and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons 3pm-6pm. Committing to one session per week or more would be greatly appreciated.

• Able to follow instruction and learn repetitive tasks

• Can work in a team and independently

• Is physically able to carry out tasks such as cleaning and carrying cooking equipment

• Can travel to Ufton (we are in a rural area)
