Flag DV
The Volunteer Training Co-Facilitator supports the delivery of the Breaking the Fear for Survivors programme by providing technical, organisational, and in-session support to the Lead Facilitator. This role is essential in ensuring sessions run smoothly, participants feel safe and supported, and the programme is delivered in line with trauma-informed and survivor-centred principles.
FLAG DV is a specialist domestic abuse charity supporting survivors to make informed, safe choices through free and confidential family law advice, court support, and training across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Hampshire. Our survivor-led, trauma-informed approach helps reduce fear, increase understanding, and build confidence for survivors accessing the Family Court.
As a Volunteer Training Co-Facilitator, you will help us reach more survivors by supporting the delivery of a four-session online workshop to small groups of up to eight participants. You will work closely with the Lead Facilitator to support survivors through the Family Court process by helping create a safe, well-structured, and supportive learning environment.
Flag DV provide victims of domestic abuse a free legal advice appointment to enable them to make informed decisions to empower them to leave the abuse safely. These are facilitated by family law solicitors who offer their time as pro-bono services. This service is for anyone experiencing domestic abuse in Thames Valley and Hampshire over the age of 18 regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race or religion.
Charity aims - For people who experience domestic abuse to have access to high quality legal advice so that they are empowered to
o Make informed choices through knowledge of their legal rights
o Have a better understanding of access to justice
o Make informed choices to protect themselves, their children and their property
Our client outcomes are measured under four criteria; improved understanding of legal rights, improved health and wellbeing, improved feeling of safety for victims, their children and property and increased understanding of how to access further legal support.
You will also play an important role in supporting participant wellbeing. This includes observing engagement during sessions, being alert to signs of distress, and offering appropriate welfare check-ins where needed, always in line with safeguarding guidance and trauma-informed practice.
While the Lead Facilitator delivers the core content, you will contribute to creating a calm, respectful, and supportive space that enables survivors to feel heard, informed, and empowered. There may also be opportunities to co-deliver elements of sessions, where appropriate and if desired, with support and guidance provided.
This role is well suited to someone with strong IT, organisational, and communication skills who is confident using online platforms, attentive to detail, and committed to supporting survivors with empathy, professionalism, and care.
