Volunteer Helping in Art Hub and Ancillary Cafe

We are looking for volunteers to help primarily in our small hub café, this will involve, chatting to our patrons, serving drinks (after training on barista machine) and cake, clearing tables, washing up and anything else that needs doing to ensure the smooth running of the café. Taking payments for café sales and potentially art sales.

There are also opportunites to help with exhibitions and events, helping set up and take down exhibitions and events. Taking money, cash and card.

Directions:

From St John's roundabout head towards The Kennet Centre, turn left at traffic lights into Pound Street, then immediately left into Argyle Road. Argyle Road turns into Hampton Road, we are on the right hand side.

We aim to promote, maintain, improve and advance education and appreciation of the arts in all forms in West Berkshire and the surrounding areas.

To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, assist them to integrate into and contribute to society.

We run a variety of art based workshops, exhibitions and community events, along side our art hub café. We work with other organisations to make art available and as affordable (sometimes free of charge), to all who wish to take part, to improve wellbeing and decrease isolation.

What skills do I need?

  • A good communicator, a lot of your time will be talking to café customers, getting to know them.

Time commitment: We normally work on a 4 hour shift 09.30 - 13.30 and 12.30 - 16.30. We are currently open Thursday through to Sunday, looking to potentially expand our opening days next year. These are subject to change depending on what is on at the hub. If you can give time regularly then that would be great, but we are also happy for volunteers to volunteer as and when they can.
