Trustee

We are a small local charity looking for someone to join our board of Trustees.

The main duty of a trustee is to advance the aims of the charity. This should always be a trustee's main focus. A charity's trustees must carry out its charity's purposes for public benefit. This is called 'the public benefit requirement'.

We would like the trustee to assist us in driving the charity forward to enable it to grow and increase its benefit to the local community. We have recently celebrated 10 years of the hub being open.  We are looking to continue to grow the charity, including starting outreach work.  

Due to our growth, we are looking for some more Trustees to help relieve our current small board of 5 Trustees and are looking for help in many areas, such as:

• PR
• Fundraising
• Health and Safety 
• General HR and Administration.

We are based in Hampton Road, Newbury, which is a continuation of Argyle Road off Pound Street.

We aim to promote, maintain, improve and advance education and appreciation of the arts in all forms in West Berkshire and the surrounding areas.

To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, assist them to integrate into and contribute to society.

We run a variety of art based workshops, exhibitions and community events, along side our art hub café. We work with other organisations to make art available and as affordable (sometimes free of charge), to all who wish to take part, to improve wellbeing and decrease isolation.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for someone who is:

• Enthusiastic
• Team player
• Good communicator
• Ideally with an appreciation of visual arts
• Willing to take on responsibilities (for example: health and safety, PR, fundraising)
• Able to work on their own and as part of a team
• Good computer literacy desirable
• Good sense of humour
• Friendly and approachable

When is this role available?

This is a flexible role available on various days/times.

Time commitment: We have 5 trustees meeting a year ( 2hrs in length) plus any additional time for specific roles, according to availability. Flexible volunteer hours. Our Trustee meetings are normally on a Tuesday between 1900 and 2100.
