About Guide Dogs

Guide Dogs for the Blind help people with sight loss live the life they choose.

Over the years we've developed a wide range of services with and without dogs to support people living with a vision impairment. Children and adults. Friends and family.

We're a charity, almost entirely funded by donations, and we are the world's largest assistance dog organisation. As world leaders in puppy socialisation and dog training, we're the only organisation to breed and train guide dogs in the UK. We're also the largest employer of specialists dedicated to helping children and young people overcome the challenges of sight loss.

Join the Guide Dogs Community. Together we will be helping more people with sight loss to live actively, independently and well.

What skills do I need?

Ideally you will:

  • Have basic maths skills and ability to identify errors.
  • Be able to carry money to undertake the banking of funds.
  • Be confident in handling cash.
  • Be able to use email and spreadsheets.

What benefits are there?

Volunteering is a two-way street, so in return for your time you will get a dedicated volunteer manager/key contact who will help you settle in and support you during your time with us. You’ll also get:

  • The opportunity to share your experience in finance and accounting or build on these skills for your career.
  • The satisfaction in knowing you are supporting people with sight loss to live actively, independently, and well.
  • An opportunity to interact with others, including people within Guide Dogs and members of the public.
