Sport in Mind
Are you:
If you answered yes to those questions, please get in touch - Sport in Mind would love to hear from you!
Volunteers are essential to the work we do at Sport in Mind, we have dozens of wonderful volunteers who assist our session leaders at sessions across the South East of England and without their help our sessions wouldn't be nearly as fun, engaging or beneficial for our attendees.
Volunteers at this session will be helping to care for a large allotment in Newbury and helping to deliver a fun, safe and welcoming atmosphere at a session aimed at adults experiencing mental health problems.
Sport in Mind are looking for friendly and approachable volunteers who can engage our service users and hold non-judgemental conversation.
It is preferable that you have good knowledge of gardening and allotments and also an awareness of the importance of physical activity for good mental health.
Sport in Mind ® is an independent multi-award winning mental health charity (unaffiliated to Mind and not part of the local Mind network) that was formed in Reading, Berkshire in 2010 with a simple mission:
"To improve the lives of people experiencing mental health problems through sport and physical activity"
We are the UK's leading mental health sports charity and deliver physical activity (sport, walking, dance and movement, gardening and exercise sessions) projects in partnership with the amazing NHS in order to aid recovery, promote mental wellbeing, improve physical health, combat social isolation and empower people to move their lives forward in a positive direction.
We'd like someone who wants to give back to their local community and help support adults with mental health challenges become more active to support their recovery and well-being. Ideally our volunteers will be caring, understanding, patient, nurturing an invested in promoting a positive experience for the participants. They do not need to be great at sport, but a passion for advocating the benefits of being active is super important!
Training, mentorship, and support given to all volunteers. All places are subject to meeting our safeguarding and health and safety policies and procedures.
