To help guide our charity into the future. Our Trustees play a vital role in shaping strategy, ensuring strong governance, and championing our mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local families.

Terms of office
– Trustees are appointed for a one-year term of office, renewal annually at PSC AGM.
– This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
Time commitment
– Attending monthly Board meetings. Currently meetings are held remotely
– Attending annual strategy days

Parenting Special Children is a Berkshire based charity providing specialist support to families who have children/young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
Personal skills and qualities
● Willingness and ability to understand and accept their responsibilities and liabilities as trustees and to act in the best interests of the organisation.
● Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good, independent judgement and work effectively as a board member.
● Effective communication skills and willingness to participate actively in discussion.
● A strong personal commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, preferably lived experience of special educational needs/neurodiversity.
● Enthusiasm for our vision and mission and lived experience and/or appreciation and understanding of inclusion
● Willingness to lead according to our values - Our work is informed by personal experience and empathy, is non-judgmental and inclusive.
● Commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
● Ability to build trust and maintain positive working relationships.
