Volunteer Librarian

Are you available to volunteer your time during school hours? Do you like helping children learn? St Joseph's School are looking for a librarian (volunteer) to join our amazing team.

Key responsibilities will include, organising and maintaining the library, making it a stimulating and exciting place that children love to visit to support the children's love of reading.

Catalogue new stock on the system and remove any obsolete stock

Stock and Shelving: Organise displays, shelve returned books, and keep shelves tidy.

Helping students find something to read and supporting the classes as they come in to change their books

Full training on our library software is provided.

We are completely committed to safeguarding the welfare of our students. Those who work with us are expected to share this commitment, which will be fully tested as part of the selection process. All offers of a volunteering role will be subject to the individual undergoing the appropriate vetting checks, including an enhanced barred list check and DBS clearance.

Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of staff and pupils. 

Experience of working with children in schools desirable but not essential

Good knowledge of the range of modern pupils’ fiction and non-fiction literature desirable but not essential

Details

We do not specific days times when this role will need to take place. You may wish to volunteer for an hour or two a week, but there is also the option to spend more time with us if you wanted to – we are very flexible.
