Volunteer Drivers

YPWD Younger People With Dementia CIO

One of our biggest challenges as a charity is enabling those we support to access our activities due to a lack of suitable transportation. We are therefore looking for volunteer drivers to join our team.

Volunteer drivers are needed across Berkshire, so wherever your location, you may be able to make a difference to the life of someone diagnosed with dementia through your support.

What would we like you to do? We would like you to pick up and drop off a person with dementia at our activity workshops, ensuring the safety and comfort of your passengers throughout the journey. These are held in various locations within the areas we support. Depending on your location and that of the person with dementia, the time commitment could be 2-4 hours per activity workshop or event. We would like you to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers throughout the journey and adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.

You will receive:

  • Mileage expenses based on the mileage that you travel to and from your home at 45p per mile.
  • Flexible scheduling to fit in with your availability.
  • Enhanced knowledge and skills in young onset dementia.
  • Make a meaningful difference to the lives of others.
  • Connect with like-minded individuals and professionals.
  • Receive acknowledgement and celebration of your valuable contributions.
  • Feel valued and part of a team.
  • Improved self-esteem, confidence and well-being.
  • Gain valuable work experience.

If you are ready to become a part of our team and contribute to a worthy cause, we would love to hear from you!

As we run our activities within the community and vary these activities, the location of these will change. This also varies depending on the interests of those attending. Our gardening project which tends to run across the summer is held in Inkpen, with activities the remainder of the year taking place in and around the Newbury area.
