Newbury Almshouse Trust
Newbury Almshouse Trust are seeking a committed and experienced director to join our supportive and friendly board of trustees. This is a vital, unpaid role ideal for people who are passionate about making a real difference to the lives of the almshouse residents.
Directors can come from any background, but we have a particular vacancy for a director with legal experience in order to assist us with certain aspects of running the Trust. Commitment can vary from offering consultancy or advice at board level, to more hands-on day-to-day tasks.
Newbury Almshouse Trust has a long history of providing affordable housing to people in and around Newbury, serving the community for over 800 years. Our properties range from the ancient St Bartholomew’s Hospital to newer bungalows, but all offer modern facilities, a friendly community and the support of the Trust.
Newbury Almshouse Trust provides accommodation for people from the Newbury area who for financial, or other, reasons are not able to find accommodation.
Legal experience (within the property industry preferable but not essential)
This is a flexible role available on various days/times.
We hold monthly management meetings (on a Monday morning) and quarterly board meetings (on a Wednesday evening), as well as time required for tasks connected to running the Trust. Hours vary but would be around two days a month/half a day a week.
