Tadley Elderly Day Care

Visitors spend 5 hours with us (10am - 3pm), and we offer a relaxed and fun packed day. We adapt all activities to individual needs. Example of a typical day.

  • 10.00 - 10.30 Welcome with tea, coffee, biscuits, chat and newspapers/magazines
  • 10.30 - 11.30 Selection of 'Active' Physical Games (bean bag target, foam football target, skittles, boules)
  • 11.15 - 12.00 'Brain' Games (Musical Bingo, Cards, Hangman, Quizzes, Make-A-Word)
  • 11.45 - 12.00 Prepare for lunch at 12:00.
  • 12:00 - 12:30 LUNCH - all clients have hot two-course lunch - main course and dessert
  • 12.30 - 12.45 After-lunch sit-down, relax, read newspapers/magazines, chat
  • 12:45 - 1.30 General Games (Snakes & Ladders, quizzes, crosswords, Bingo)
  • 1.30 - 2.00 Tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits and chat
  • 2.00 - 3.00 General Games (Snakes and Ladders, quizzes, crosswords, Bingo, etc)
  • 3.00 Home time

Volunteer drivers are also required by the centre.

Ambrose Allen Centre is located in the centre of Tadley, next to Holmwood Surgery.

About Tadley Elderly Day Care

Open to all those living in North Hampshire or West Berkshire, the centre gives carers a much needed break, which means they can care at home for longer.

We cater for a variety of needs including people who have dementia, Parkinson's, Stroke or isolation.

What skills do I need?

No formal qualifications needed. A DBS check will be provided 

Good communication skills, able to interact with different people, good team player, caring, likes to have fun and get involved.

If someone has experience of interacting with people who have dementia, Parkinson's or had a stroke it would be beneficial but not essential.

Details

The centre is open from 10am - 3pm; Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Volunteers normally do 1/2 day or 1 day, but there is flexibility.
