We are looking for individuals to join with us, to become part of our community, to help develop the way in which we provide support to the local community. There are a wide variety of activities that we undertake that require all sorts of different skills and experiences, and working together we aim to support each other to gain additional experience and skills.

There are opportunities for volunteers / members to collaborate with other members of the local Newbury Rotary Community to deliver on a wide range of local community and international projects, using existing skills and experience as well as developing new skills.

About Rotary Club of Newbury

Rotary is a membership organisation made up of individuals who believe that friendship is the basis upon which we can work together to bring about lasting change for the better in local communities. Rotary is welcoming and inclusive organisation. It attracts members from all walks of life, who wish to use their available time to form friendships, enjoy being with each other, making a difference and leaving a legacy. The Newbury Rotary community is looking for volunteers to join with us, to support a wide range of activities as well as come up with new ideas.

The local Newbury community is also part of a wider organisation, of 46,000+ other local clubs worldwide. With 1.4 million members. Rotary aims to: Promote peace; Fight disease; Provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene; Save parents and children; Support education; Grow local economies and; protect the environment.

Members of the local Newbury Rotary community meet regularly to enjoy a variety of activities together, whether that is simply meeting up for an informal chat over a cup of tea, having a meal together, or going out bowling or going on theatre trips. As friends we seek to support each other. As volunteers, we also seek to: Support local events/activities (e.g. Remembrance Day Parade, Newbury Town Centre Christmas Events, Over 80's Parcel events); Provide youth enrichment activities (e.g. teaching the Rotary Leadership & Management Programme leading to an NQV qualification and leading school youth groups); Support others by organising enjoyable days out for children with disabilities and elderly people (e.g. providing boating trips out on the canal); Running and supporting fundraising events in aid of local charities (e.g. Newbury Santa Fun Run, Boules competitions in Newbury); as well as undertaking practical activities to help preserve our local environment (e.g. through environmental clean-ups). We also get involved in international projects helping communities throughout the world.

When is this role available?

This is a flexible role available on various days/times.

Details

Time commitment: As volunteers / members are drawn from all walks of life, we recognise that individuals will contribute as much or as little time as they are able to. There are no firm time commitments although it is important to attend regular monthly meetings as regular fellowship is important to the creation of friendship.
