The Corn Exchange Trust manages four key spaces; the Corn Exchange which includes a 400 seat auditorium, a 40 seat independent cinema and a Cafe and Bar.
We present a mixed programme of theatre, dance, comedy, music, family, film and outdoor work to audiences from across the South East. The emphasis is on presenting shows of the highest quality and films that inspire and entertain audiences, with attendance growing year on year. The Trust produces its own pantomime in-house, as well as supporting a range of artists and companies across all art-forms through commissioning and development opportunities, mentoring and production support.
The Corn Exchange Newbury and 101 Outdoor Arts is more than a theatre offering not only performances, music, comedy and film, but also working to improve mental health through engagement with creative activity. Launched in 2017, our Learning & Participation team delivers participatory arts, increasing social connectedness and improving the health/wellbeing of our participants with a thriving Youth Theatre and a range of creative workshops/classes for all ages with a focus on early interventions to support mental health.
Working across all age groups, there is a particular focus on working with schools and young people as well as Ageing Creatively, a programme of work specifically aimed at those aged 55+. We are very proud that our work also takes place outside of the walls of the main buildings, with sessions happening across West Berkshire, in schools, care settings, family hubs, community centres and libraries, to name just a few. We regularly collaborate with local partners to support the health and wellbeing of our local community through the arts, including social prescribers and family support workers.
Basic knowledge of tools, repairs, and general maintenance.
Good problem-solving skills.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
Previous handyman or maintenance experience is helpful.
