Kennet District Scout Council
About us
Kennet District Scouts supports 9 Scout groups & 4 Explorer sections totalling over 750 young people across Newbury, Inkpen & Kintbury, Woolton Hill & Greenham giving them the chance to build confidence, learn practical skills and take on adventures they’d never forget. The District Scout Council is the charity’s board of trustees, and it makes sure our volunteers have the support, funding and resources they need to deliver Scouting locally.
The role
We’re looking for a Treasurer to take care of the District’s finances and help us stay accountable, sustainable and ready to grow. You’ll work alongside a friendly team of fellow trustees and volunteers.
What you’ll do
Oversee the District’s income, expenditure and bank accounts
Prepare and present regular financial updates to the Council
Help set the annual budget and monitor spending against it
Prepare the annual accounts and support the independent examination
Make sure we meet charity regulations and Scout Association rules
Advise on fundraising, grants and the use of reserves
Support Scout groups with financial guidance where needed
What we’re looking for
You don’t need to be a qualified accountant. We’d love to hear from you if you:
What’s in it for you
A real chance to make a difference to young people in your community
Skills and experience you can use in your career or on your CV, including trustee experience
Support and induction from the existing Council and the Scout Association
A welcoming team and a chance to meet new people
Reasonable expenses reimbursed
Good to know
This is a trustee role, so you’ll need to be eligible to act as a charity trustee. All volunteers complete the Scouts’ joining process, which includes a background check and references. Kennet District Scouts is committed to safeguarding and welcomes volunteers from all backgrounds.
We’d love to hear from you, even if you’re not sure you tick every box.
