Jubilee Garden Volunteer

Thatcham Town Council

At Thatcham Town Council, we are fortunate to have the well established Jubilee Sensory Garden, a tranquil space designed to engage all five senses with a variety of plants, textures, and scents. This volunteer role is ideal for nature lovers who want to contribute to the upkeep of this beautiful and accessible community garden. The garden is for everyone in the community to enjoy, and benefit from. We have recently employed the services of a new gardener, Polly, to take on the project. Polly will provide a list of jobs that can be done on a weekly basis, which we will display in the garden and on the garden group on Facebook - 'The Jubilee Garden Community'.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with general garden maintenance tasks, including weeding, pruning, and watering.
  • Help with planting seasonal flowers, herbs, and shrubs to enhance the sensory experience.
  • Ensure pathways and sensory elements (such as touch-friendly plants and water features) are clean and accessible.
  • Support Polly in composting and eco-friendly gardening practices.
  • Harvesting produce and leaving out for others to take.
  • Engage with garden visitors to share knowledge about plants and the garden's sensory features (optional).
