Newbury Community Resource Centre
The Growing2gether project is designed to give people from all walks of life the chance to learn about and help to grow a range of fruit and vegetables.
There are many volunteering, training and learning opportunities at the 1.5 hectare site, offering a training area and educational facility for local groups and individuals, promoting interest and awareness in local food.
Volunteers with gardening skills and knowledge would be welcomed with the time to spare to assist them with the many tasks it takes to keep the site running smoothly! A rewarding way to share an interest, whilst volunteering!
Directions: On the A339 just outside Headley, before Kingsclere and on the right hand side, just after the small industrial estate.
We are a charity that believes people really matter and although we have grown over the years that is still the core value behind everything we do. This is reflected in the way we behave towards our customers, our clients, each other and our interaction with other charitable agencies in the area.
The Newbury Community Resource Centre helps local people in need by collecting and receiving donations of furniture, electrical goods, bicycles and bric-a-brac, making them available at a low cost to those in need. To support this we also sell at a higher price to all members of the community.
The charity (Reg No 1082243) was originally established in 2000 to provide reused furniture to those in need and whilst this is still the main focus of our work we have evolved into a local resource operating across four key projects, all providing varied and interesting opportunities for our volunteers.
We provide specialist home-making support to particularly vulnerable members of the community by working in partnership with local authorities and housing associations.
We offer a wide range of opportunities for people to engage in the delivery of our services and values as either volunteers or trainees.
THE NCRC supplies accredited training in workshops delivered by our award winning team.
Good gardening knowledge and experience desired but not essential as training given.
General DIY skills appreciated for site maintenance jobs.
Be a people person. Reliable.
Enthusiastic, a willingness to "muck in" and a good sense of humour will help!
