West Berkshire Therapy Centre
A bit of background
Our existing fund raising team is tasked to raise £50k or so each year, to add to the substantial voluntary contributions given to us by our clients. Fund raising is achieved mainly through raising grants and maintaining contact with our regular supporters. Our proposed hydrotherapy premises are expected to cost up to £4million, adding an important service to what we already provide.
Your role
We see a benefit in also raising funds through social media and more generally what we understand to be crowd funding. We have no expertise in social media or crowd funding, but are able to work actively to support an individual who has a sound knowledge of what is crowd funding and how to make it generate significant charitable income. Our main project requires about £4 million to be raised and crowd funding should be one element of that. If you want to help raise £4 million, here is your platform!
Location
In and around West Berkshire, perhaps mainly from home.
To get to the Frank Hutchings Hall: Heading West from Thatcham on the A4, turn left on the outskirts of Thatcham into Harts Hill Road. Follow the road for half a mile and turn into Bradley Moore Square. Frank Hutchings Hall is the large community hall at the far end of the car park.
Our broad aim is to meet the currently unmet health and well-being needs of the local community and to identify opportunities where we, as part of the 'not-for-profit' sector, can fill some of those gaps and provide helpful, much needed, good quality services. We are planning to construct new premises to include a Hydrotherapy Pool service alongside our award winning power-assisted exercise rehabilitation gym.
Many disabled people find it difficult to take as much exercise as they want or as is generally recommended, limiting their lives and potential.
West Berkshire Therapy Centre is a highly specialised rehabilitation gym, equipped with power-assisted exercise equipment, for the benefit of disabled people from the local community. Following assessment from our therapist, Centre users are able to receive exercise therapy provided by a range of carefully designed and selected machines, easing stiff or reluctant muscles, giving them more strength and co-ordination, improved mobility, better ability to perform tasks of daily living, helping also to manage weight, improve circulation, reduce the risks of serious health problems in later years and more feelings of well-being. Plans are under way to develop a community hydrotherapy pool service on similar lines.
Strong social media expertise. Creativity. Passion to hit a big target and have fun on the way.
This is a flexible role available on various days/times.
Time commitment: How long does it take to raise £2 million? Working alongside the other parts of our fund raising team we would like to raise this amount in 12-18 months, so there could be quite a lot of time input required.
