Community Volunteer - NCT Newbury

Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity where you can meet new people but also have the flexibility to decide when and where you volunteer?

We are looking for volunteers to help organise events or parent support activities in the local area.

The roles are very flexible and volunteers can choose to organise one group or multiple. Activities you may choose could include organising a Walk and Talk in the local area which provides the chance to get outside and meet new people. Volunteers would be helping to offer this to parents when they need it most.

Another option is a Coffee Morning which just requires picking a cafe for a venue and a date and time for local parents, carers and grandparents to meet and chat.

Volunteers may also wish to set up groups or activities specifically for dads for example, or mums to be.

This is an exciting role where you can help make a real difference to parents in your community. You will need to be good at working in a team, motivating others and decision making.

We welcome volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds and you do not need to be a parent yourself. All our roles are family friendly.

You will be supported by our central Volunteering Team and our amazing NCT family of volunteers across the UK and the Channel Islands who will help support you every step of the way.

We provide evidence-based information, signposting and access to support and services through our website, which is visited over 9 million times a year.

We support and empower over 80,000 parents every year through a variety of services tailored to meet their needs. This includes antenatal and postnatal courses delivered by our skilled practitioners, a range of free community-based activities and events led by our fantastic
volunteers, and highly valued breastfeeding and infant feeding support provided by specialist NCT breastfeeding counsellors.

In addition, a range of trained peer support programmes support women and families facing specific challenges, such as social isolation, feeding difficulties or poor mental health.

Time commitment: The time you will spend will vary from week to week but around 2 hours on average. The role is completely flexible and can be completed any day or time.
