Berkshire Youth - Waterside Centre
Berkshire Youth provide support for young people as they transition into adulthood, Berkshire Youth provides safe places and safe spaces for young people. As part of the offer to the young people in west Berkshire, Berkshire Youth have invested in the purchase and refurbishment of the Waterside Centre based on the Kennet and Avon Canal in the Centre of Newbury.
As part of the offer to the community, Berkshire Youth has partnered with SOFEA (SOFEA is an organisations that provides education, employability and wellbeing programme for vulnerable young people). SOFEA work to tackle food insecurity and the disadvantages it causes.
Berkshire Youth Waterside Centre provides the food larder on a Tuesday afternoon and need a volunteer to help set up and make ready the community larder for the afternoon volunteers.
What are we looking for?
Berkshire Youth Community Larder is looking for suitable volunteers to support the SOFEA community larder based at Waterside Centre on Tuesday mornings from 9am to 11am. To help set up, this includes:
Berkshire Youth help with the transition from childhood to young adulthood, supporting young people to reach their full potential and make a positive contribution to their communities. We help young people through leisure activities, helping them to grow. Many of the young people we work with are vulnerable or disadvantaged and unable to access help elsewhere.
We focus on prevention and helping young people who are missing out, not yet in crisis and who can't afford what is on offer or face barriers to access: they may have mental health issues, responsibility as a carer or low self-esteem.
Berkshire Youth have invested in the purchase and refurbishment of the Waterside Centre based on the Kennet and Avon Canal in the Centre of Newbury.
Should be able to read English, with a relatively good level of mobility to lift boxes and load tables with food etc.
