Girl Guiding - Kennet Vale
There are currently around 44,000 girls and young women on lists waiting to join Girlguiding in the UK.
By becoming a volunteer in Thatcham, you can help ensure that as many girls and young women as possible get the opportunity to experience the fun and challenge of guiding.
You will be joining more than 80,000 other adult volunteers who contribute over ten million hours to guiding every year. Like them, you will enjoy the personal rewards and satisfaction that volunteering brings.
Girlguiding UK welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds, age groups and abilities. Guiding is flexible and volunteering can be arranged to fit around a busy lifestyle. You can volunteer to help out with:
Or you can help out in a support role, such as administration or PR.
Whatever your skills and interests, and no matter how much time you have to spare, one of our volunteering roles is bound to suit you.
We could particularly do with some volunteers for Rainbows who want to work with 5 and 6 year olds and are available for an hour and a half between about 4.30 and 7 pm on any evening.
Meetings are held at various locations throughout Thatcham including:
Girlguiding UK is the United Kingdom's largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women, with around half a million members including about 100,000 trained volunteer adult Leaders and supporters.
The main skill required is communication and the ability to relate to children and young people. Adult volunteers are DBS checked and have to complete short safe space training which is available online.
This is an ideal volunteer opportunity to gain experience in working with children and young people, or to use existing experience.
